RMS Weekly Review
Volume 1 Issue 17March 30, 2012
Another exciting week. It is actually starting to feel like March, though.
Tuesday was a day spent with our Special Education team. While looking at our MEAP scores, we are looking at ways to better meet the needs of our students. Currently, our focus has been in ELA and Math. We feel that we need to also look at Science and Social Studies as well, know that the primary skill needed in those classes is reading. This year, the high school instituted a “coaching” model for their Special Education teams. Mr. Ron Reed came over and spoke with my teachers and shared how “coaching” looks at the high school. We are going to pilot this idea for the remainder of this trimester to see how it will work in our building. If we even some marginal gains in our S.E. students this trimester, we will prepare to do a full implementation in the Fall. Anything we can do to help meet the needs of our students is a positive move in the right direction.
Wednesday, Thursday, and half the day on Friday was spent out of the building and the district. Dennis, Jon, and with the help of Mrs. Michelle Hubbard, who is currently finishing her internship with me while completing her masters degree in administration, kept a tight lid on the building. A special “thank you” goes to them for covering for me this week.
Thursday was a great day at the 9th annual Images and Perceptions of Arab Americans Diversity Workshop in Dearborn. They had some great guest speakers.
Friday morning I was at RESA with three of my SI team members for the Teachers Involving Parents workshop. We have a lot of great ideas to get parents involved in their child's education.
From Mr. Marabeas’s class..
Have a great weekend.
Respectfully submitted on this 30th day of March, 2012.
