RMS Weekly Review
Volume 1 Issue 16
March 23, 2012
Spring is definitely in the air and it is having a major effect on our students this week. I am hoping that the weather turns, just a bit, so our children's phototropic reactions subside.
Our 7th and 8th graders completed their Explore test this week. We are looking forward to compiling our data and sharing it with the students and their parents. This will give us a nice comparison to our MEAP data and assist us in class recommendations for next year.
Our drama club’s play, “C.S.I Neverland”, kicked off yesterday. They performed two dress rehearsals for our PBiS reward students. The public performances are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. tonight and tomorrow. Special “Thank you” goes out to Kelly Brighton, Laura McMaster, and Andrea O’Hara for dedicating their time to help support the drama club and inspire our students to be involved. There are also quite a few parent volunteers that helped make this possible. Without their contributions with stage design and prop construction, the ability to have a positive production would not be a success.
Monday night, we held our Title I parent informational meeting. We discussed the philosophy behind our Title I classes, how Title helps enhance our classrooms, and how the targeted classes focus on remedial skills. At the end of the presentation, we raffled off a student bicycle.
The district administrators meet this week to continue working on the new teacher evaluation tool. We were able to look at several models that other schools have adopted. We feel that we will be able to have a productive tool to present in the next couple of months that will help enhance good instruction that is performance based and data driven.
On a personal note, Nanette is eight weeks away from bringing Marion June into the world. Birthing classes are scheduled in two weeks. Baby showers are scheduled. The nursery is almost complete; Precious Moments themed. We are scheduled for biweekly visits to the doctor now, so she will be here before I know it.
Have a great weekend.
Respectfully submitted on this 23nd day of March, 2012.
