RMS Weekly Review V-1 I-8

RMS Weekly Review
Volume 1 Issue 8
December 23, 2011

It has been a great week here a RMS.  Teaching and Learning as a primary focus.  With the on set of the new MEAP scores, conversations are being had to see what changes need to be made to help our students become more successful.

The 8th grade, Washington D.C. fund raiser, Dinner with Santa was a success on Tuesday night.  50/50 brought in $70.  Tin Can Raffle was around $600.  About 300 people from the community participated.  Special thank you to Kelly Martin, Laura Benavides, Denise Greene, Jackie Csnoka, Shari Hales, Christina Adkins, and several other staff members helped to make this a success.  The line to see Santa was constant during the whole hour and a half.

Our WEB group collected $131.31 in their latest Hat Day.  That money was donated to the “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF”.  On Monday, WEB received a letter from UNICEF thanking them for their contributions.

On Wednesday, Dale from the Organization for Bat Conservation visited our 6th grade class.  He brought with him two bats, a sugar glider, and a bearded dragon.  See pictures below.

After all of this, it has been business as usual.

I am extremely proud of my staff.  These last two days have been filled with teaching and learning and very little, to zero,  “parties”.  I spent the last two days walking the halls and popping in and out of classes.  I even witnessed classes taking tests and quizzes today.  Again, I am proud that I have a hard working, dedicated staff in my building.  Now, I feel that we are heading in the right direction.

Have a great Holiday Break.
