RMS Weekly Review V1:I14

RMS Weekly Review

Volume 1 Issue 14
March 2, 2012

Unlike Alice, March has come in like a herd of rhinos here at RMS.  Spring Fever is defiantly in the air.

Monday was a cause for celebration at our staff meeting.  I presented our staff with my MEAP comparison results.  I went out and purchased cake and ice cream and we had a nice relaxing meeting.  I am hoping to share my finding with at the Board Study Session on March 26th.

Tuesday evening, our 5th, 6th, RMS Jazz, and CHS Jazz bands performed for the Big Band Blowout.  It was standing room only in the RMS auditorium.  All four bands did a remarkable job.  Kudos goes out to Mr. Ridenour and Mrs. Nill and all of the performers that evening.

Then on Wednesday, in preparation for this weekend’s Band Festival, the 7th and 8th grade combined band and CHS’s Concert band performed a concert for 300 PBiS reward students.

Thursday’s Coffee with the Principal had a participation of eleven parents.  Mrs. Hiba El Hajj, CHS/RMS ELL teacher, joined me in presenting to the parents.  We discussed the importance of students reading at home and developing their vocabulary.  I share our building’s SRI (Scholastic Reading Intervention) and MEAP scores and stressed how well we are doing in the Crestwood District.  As parents, they should be very proud to live in our community and send their children here.

8th grade will be taking the Explore on March 20th.
7th grade will be taking the Explore on March 21st.

March is Reading Month’s theme is “Hunger for a god book”.  We have our door decorating contests starting Monday.  Judging will no on March 29th.  Teachers were given “ I was caught reading!!” tickets to pass out to students when they are caught reading.  Students will place them into a container and we will have drawings each Friday for the month of March.  Winners will choose a current best seller as a prize.

Have a great weekend.

Respectfully submitted on this 24th day of February, 2012.
